And Marian Sang On…
THE SINGER…
In the program “And Marian Sang On...” mezzo-soprano, Wendy Gerbier, Connecticut’s official
National Anthem Ambassador, brings to you an impressively educational, engaging and
motivational experience designed to introduce children and adults to the elite world of
classical music as well as to the compelling story of Marian Anderson. Anderson, a famous
classical singer, has a moving life story which has been an inspiration to many and continues
to be so for those just coming to know her even now.
The benefits of having Ms. Gerbier perform for your school or organization are many… While
bringing a critical figure in U.S. history to the forefront she simultaneously gives audience

entertaining and tremendously positive in the impression it leaves on the audience.
Participants will become immersed in the story of this exemplary individual while having the
privilege of hearing Ms.Gerbier, who happens to have the same very rare and breathtakingly
beautiful vocal range as Marian Anderson making it possible to feel as though Marian
Anderson were right there with them.
Many if not all of us can relate to the struggle associated with being discouraged and
sometimes even overtly prevented from doing the things that we not just love doing but feel
deeply moved to do. “And Marian Sang On..” provides participants with a riveting and
admirably constructive model for overcoming obstacles and challenges of any kind.
THE NARRATOR…
The program will be narrated by an experienced educator who has worked extensively with
children and adults in a wide array of educational settings. As the narrator tells the story of
Marian’s life from beginning to end she will also guide participants through a slide show
depicting Marian throughout her life. Additionally she will engage audience members by
having them actively participate in the telling of the story of Marian’s life.
THE ACCOMPANIST…
A notably accomplished pianist will accompany Ms. Gerbier. The accompanists chosen for the
program are classically trained musicians who have pursued graduate and post-graduate
work in classical music.
